How to Know You Have Eternal Life
Man is sinful and separated from God.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Sin has a penalty, which must be paid.
For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23
Jesus Christ paid the penalty for sin.
But God demonstrates his love for us, in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Salvation is a free gift.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
You must receive Jesus Christ by faith.
Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16
You can have assurance of salvation.
Jesus said, ‘…he who believes has everlasting life’. John 6:47
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I John 5:11-12
Prayer to Accept Christ
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner separated from you and lost. I want to accept the gift of eternal life by believing in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Thank you for forgiving me of my sin and allowing me to become your child by faith. Amen.
